Bennett and Mfiki pass referees' test, Damon pulls a hamstring and drops out

Daniel Bennett - SAFA RefereeSouth African match officials Daniel Bennett and Lwandile Mfiki have been nominated for the 2011/2012 National Panel of Referees after they passed their fitness tests which were held in Malawi on Monday, 19 September 2011. The tests were done under the supervision of the World governing soccer body, FIFA. The duo has also been nominated for the FIFA Panel of Referees for 2012. The third South African referee Jerome Damon was unfortunate as he could not complete the fitness after he pulled a hamstring muscle.

Damon will now go for an MRI scan upon his return from Malawi. Thereafter he will be given time to recuperate then offered another opportunity to re-do the test within the next three months to enable him to become a member of the National Panel of Referees.
