SA U 23 ready to take on Angola

2011-01-20

The South African National under 23 Team is in its final preparations for the upcoming All Africa Games Qualifying match against Angola. The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday (23 January 2011) at the Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton, Johannesburg. Kick off is at 3 pm. The team assembled on Wednesday 12 January 2011 and immediately travelled to Lesotho where they took part in two practice matches.

The South Africans first took on the current Champions of the Lesotho Premier League, Matlama FC and the young South Africans won the contest by three goals to nil (3-0). The next practice match was played on Wednesday 19 January 2011 against Lesotho’s National under 23 side and that match finished in a one-all draw (1-1). South Africa’s National under 23 assistant Coach David Notoane, says the technical team is satisfied with the team’s preparations at this point.

“We have been in camp for more than a week now, we had some challenges in the beginning but we now seem to be moving in the right direction in terms of our preparations for the match on the weekend against Angola, I cannot say that we know them very well but I know that they are a physical side, they will probably will try to get a point here; and this is where we must try our hardest to win. The match is in our own backyard, if we follow our game plan we should be able to register a win. It would be very good to start our quest for this All Africa Games with a win here at home and that will also help us with the momentum and confidence going forward,” said Notoane.
