SA U20 defeat Sivutsa FC in a practice match
The South African National Under 20 Team, Amajita, defeated National First Division side Sivutsa FC of Mpumalanga by two goals to one (2-1) in a practice match that took place at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.
The clash was part of Amajita's preparation for the upcoming African Youth Championship (AYC) qualifier- first leg encounter against Nigeria which will be played on Friday, 21 August 2012 at the Mbombela Stadium.
Kickoff is at 19h00.
Amajita head coach Solly Luvhengo expressed his happiness at the result on the day. Thabani Mthembu and Lorenzo Gordinho scored for South Africa.
“Sivutsa is a very organised and strong side, they gave us a tough time, they gave it their all. We should just maintain the confidence that we have gained from this win and carry it with us. We are looking forward to a good and very competitive match against the Nigerians on Friday,” said Luvhengo.
“It is always good to win games, but the most important thing for me and the technical team was to look at certain players under certain situations on and off the ball. I am just not happy with the goal we conceded – it was easy. We must be weary of such mistakes when we face the likes of Nigeria who can punish us more so because this is a home and away fixture, which can be detrimental to us."
The Nigerians are expected to arrive in South Africa on Thursday, 20 September 2012.
The U20 championship is scheduled to take place in Algeria next year (2013). Four top African countries will automatically qualify for the 2013 FIFA Under 20 World Cup to be staged in Turkey later next year
