Coaching Events

SAFA –CAF A License Coaching Course

The SAFA Coaching Education will be conducting a CAF A License Coaching Course:

  • Phase 1: 5th – 14th December 2016 in Johannesburg
  • Phase 2: 20th – 29th January 2017
  • Phase 3: March 2017

Entry requirements for the course are:

  • SAFA Level 1 or CAF B License Coaching Certificate holder for more than 2 years old
  • International coaching qualifications will only be considered if it is equivalent to official UEFA B Licence and approved by the SAFA National Office

Application requirements:

  • CV including all contact details – mobile number, fax, e-mail (maximum 2 pages)
  • Coaching Activity report with proof of last team/club/school coached (maximum 2 pages)
  • Copy of SAFA Level 1 or CAF B Certificate
  • Application/Motivation letter (maximum 1 page)
  • One letter of reference signed by the Director of the Club and his contact details (maximum 1 page)

Additional requirements:

  • Commitment Course fee of R 7000.00 (non refundable) is payable if the applicant is accepted.
  • SAFA will be responsible for accommodation and meals for the entire course.
  • Participants should make their own travelling arrangements.

Late and incomplete applications as well as applications exceeding 12 pages will not be considered.

The SAFA Coaching Education Department will not enter into discussions relating to the course application.

Coaching Courses

SAFA has currently a Coaching Education System in place with 5 different levels:

  • SAFA D License (Grassroots) -5 days
  • CAF/SAFA C License (Introductory) -10 days
  • CAF/SAFA B License (Level 1)-20 days
  • CAF/SAFA A License (Level 2) -; 30 days
  • Professional License (Level 3) – 70 days

In general SAFA publicise all B License or higher courses on our website. D & C License courses are usually organised by the Regional FA’s, sometimes in co-operation with municipalities, etc.  SAFA only facilitate and supervise these courses as necessary.

Governance of the Coach Education Structure

As part of its Vision 2022 plan, the Association has streamlined its governance structures, combining several Standing Committees into clusters to ensure better coordination and oversight of its programmes. The SAFA Technical Committee oversees the SAFA Coach Education Programme and is part of the football and technical cluster of committees that includes the SAFA Technical Committee, the SAFA Referees Committee and the SAFA Medical Committee.
